Our FTP Service company was experiencing a server malfunction. This was affecting the Netformx Download site (download.netformx.com). The problem appears to have been resolved, however if you do have difficulties, there is a work around for you to be able to connect to download.netformx.com. Please contact your account manager at sales@netformx.com or support@netformx.com for assistance in getting the workaround link.

January 23, 2012

A new Updater was released today along with our normal update. This new Updater, 12.5.3, as been modified to enable enhancements in future versions of Netformx products and address reliability issues during the login process. May require Re-boot.


January 16, 2012


The DesignXpert Service Pack 14.2.1.8 released January 16th includes:

Fix for - CDS Status Request - Network Assessment Results, unchecking Telnet option does not perform telnet queries requires for CDS, as a result CDS reports are missing critical data obtained from telnet.

Fix for - Some Call Manager serial numbers missing from Reports, as part of problem analysis we found out this problem is critical since wrong data is being imported from discovery results into DX project.

The DesignXpert Service Pack, 14.2.1.5 released January 9th includes:

Content - Device creation and modification attributes is a new feature delivered as part of version 14.2.0. In some scenarios no information was updated on those attributes and therefore an empty field was displayed in the application.

Issue fixed: DX-Device "Creation Time" and "Update Time" are empty

Recently, Cisco made some significant changes to the Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing (CUWL) hierarchy model. Cisco has done an End of Life (EOL) for the CUWL-LIC part and replaced it with the following SKUs:

CUWL-LIC-PRO-K9

CUWL-LIC-STD-K9

Because there was no update to the Library on January 2nd, 2012, this information was not updated this week with for our content. CUWL-LIC will appear as an EOL device in our update on January 9th, 2012. We apologize for any confusion.

IMPORTANT NEWS - Maintenance Outage and Firewall Policy Changes

Netformx Knowledgebase Access Will Be Limited Between December 31 - January 2

Please take the time to read and act on the request. If you do not, your ability to register your software, update Netformx products and the KnowledgeBase could be impacted. From December 31 – January 2, Netformx will perform system maintenance and upgrades.

Depending on your personal or corporate firewall settings, you may need to add some rules to ensure you can continue to receive updates. Additionally, the Knowledgebase update normally scheduled for Monday January 2nd will be cancelled. The next update to the Knowledgebase will be Monday, January 9, 2012.

What we are doing:  Netformx is upgrading the Knowledgebase update servers and the IP addresses for these servers will change.

What this means to you:  The Netformx domain names have not changed, but the IP addresses will change. If your firewall uses the domains noted below to access our update servers, then no action is required. If you have firewall rules that limit access to specific IP addresses, then you will need to change your firewall rules as noted below

Steps to take to ensure access through your firewall:
  In order to register or receive Updates from Netformx, please ensure you have access to the following domains through your personal or corporate firewall:

  • www.netformx.com accessed via http (port 80) and https (port 443)
  • cdn.netformx.com accessed via http (port 80) and https (port 443)
  • dds.netformx.com accessed via http (port 80) and https (port 443)

We are taking special care to provide advanced notification since we know that such a change may require you to update your firewall policies for continued access. Depending on how your personal and company firewalls are setup, you may need to configure all 3 domains. Please consider all aspects of your personal and company security setup before 12/30/11. Following the maintenance, the next KnowledgeBase update is scheduled for January 9.

Holiday Support Hours
As we approach the Holiday Season, Netformx Employees are planning time with family and friends. Netformx extends our warm wishes to all our customers during this season.

Support hours will be reduced during this time,12/26/2011 - 1/2/2012.
(SLA customers, who benefit from our 24x7 on call options for hIgh priority coverage, will remain in operation.)


Our support and services teams will be available for normal support during:

  • 12/28/2011: 9am - 6pm Pacific Time US
  • 12/29/2011: 9am - 6pm Pacific Time US.

We will resume normal operations on 1/3/2012. Please use our online FactBase, for current articles which may help with your requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We appreciate your understanding during this time when all Netformx Employees celebrate the season, and welcome in the New Year.

Cisco Parts Shortages

Due to the recent floods in Thailand Cisco is suffering from shortage of HDD parts. Therefore Cisco has changed some of the bundles' structures. Netformx will have these changes available for the users on our next release of DesignXpert (December 19th)."

DesignXpert Version 14.2.1 Now Available

Update Version 14.2.1 includes the following changes and enhancements:

  • Search and Find:
    • The Find results grid uses tooltips in the event the complete cell content cannot be displayed
    • The Find results grid now recognizes URLs (including HTTPS) for quick navigation
  • Collaboration and Integration:
    • Salesforce.com XML encoding support for Latin languages other than English (Encoding UTF-8)
  • Validation
