Cisco’s New Cross-Sell Dashboard: Finding the Whitespace in Your Customer Accounts

Cisco has added another dimension to the Cisco 360 Partner Program: rewarding partners for expanding into areas of a customer’s Cisco environment that have been dormant.

The Cross-Sell Bonus itself isn’t brand new. But on August 10, Cisco made the opportunity much easier for partners to identify by making the Cross-Sell Bonus Dashboard available in PXP.

That is worth paying attention to.

The dashboard identifies customers that have not purchased hardware or software—including active subscriptions—within specific Cisco Business Entities during the previous three years.

In other words, Cisco is helping partners identify potential whitespace and providing an additional financial incentive to pursue it.

What is the Cross-Sell opportunity?

The concept is relatively simple.

If a customer hasn’t purchased from an eligible Cisco Business Entity for three years and has no active subscription in that area, a qualifying sale into that Business Entity may be considered a Cross-Sell opportunity.

For qualifying Preferred and Portfolio Partners, the Cross-Sell Bonus can provide an additional 2% rebate that stacks with the applicable CPI TCV Land Rebate.

The program covers 10 Business Entities across the Cisco portfolio, including areas such as Wireless, Switching, Routing, Network Assurance, Compute, Data Center Networking, Security, Splunk, Collaboration, and Mass-Scale Infrastructure.

That can create meaningful incremental economics on opportunities partners may not previously have been actively pursuing.

But the more interesting development may be the information Cisco is now providing through PXP.

Cisco is showing partners where to look

The new PXP Cross-Sell Bonus Dashboard gives partners visibility into Business Entities that have been dormant within customer accounts.

Partners can download this information into a spreadsheet and see potential whitespace across their customer base—including areas where they have sold and where other partners have had activity.

Consider a customer whose wireless environment hasn’t seen a Cisco purchase in more than three years.

The obvious question is:

Why?

Maybe nothing needs to be done. Or perhaps the customer has infrastructure approaching End of Support, equipment that hasn’t been refreshed, capacity limitations, security exposure, or new requirements related to AI and network modernization.

The PXP data gives the partner a reason to investigate.

Whitespace isn’t necessarily opportunity

This distinction is important.

Finding a Business Entity with no purchase activity for three years doesn’t automatically make it a good sales opportunity.

The value comes from combining Cisco’s Cross-Sell information with what else you know about the customer.

Is there aging equipment in that part of the network? Is technology approaching End of Life or Last Day of Support? Are there vulnerabilities or configuration risks? Is there an upcoming contract or subscription event? Has the customer’s business changed significantly since its last purchase?

Those signals can help distinguish an empty space on a spreadsheet from an opportunity worth pursuing.

Look at the same data defensively

There is another side to this information that partners shouldn’t overlook. You can run the analysis against your most important existing customers and see where they haven’t purchased from a Cisco Business Entity in three years?

Those gaps may represent opportunities for you—but they may also be visible as opportunities to other Cisco partners.

That doesn’t mean incumbency no longer matters. It means partners now have another reason to understand the breadth of their relationships with strategic customers.

The Cross-Sell Dashboard can therefore be useful for both account expansion and account protection.

From a PXP spreadsheet to an actionable opportunity

Cisco is providing the starting point: visibility into potential whitespace.

The next step is determining what to do with it.

Partners can download the Cross-Sell report from PXP and upload the spreadsheet into Netformx AssetXpert Deal Analysis to put those opportunities into the context of what has previously been sold and begin analyzing where to focus.

Where more information is needed, AssetXpert Discovery can help establish what is actually installed in the customer’s environment and identify lifecycle, security, and modernization conditions that may support a customer conversation.

And when an opportunity becomes a potential deal, Deal Analysis can evaluate the Cisco 360 economics—including applicable CPI rebates and the potential Deal Lifetime Value.

The process becomes:

Find the whitespace → Understand what’s been sold → Validate the customer need → Prioritize the opportunity → Analyze the deal.

A new input for account planning

Cisco isn’t simply introducing another rebate.

With the August 10 addition of the Cross-Sell Bonus Dashboard to PXP, Cisco is giving partners information they can incorporate directly into account planning.

That makes the three-year inactivity threshold an interesting new signal.

For every dormant Business Entity, ask:

Why hasn’t this customer purchased here in three years—and is there a reason they should now?

Some will lead nowhere. Others may uncover refresh opportunities, aging infrastructure, security needs, modernization projects, or parts of an account where your relationship could be expanded.

Cisco is making those opportunities easier to see and providing an additional incentive to pursue qualifying ones.

The advantage will come from determining which ones are worth acting on.

Turn Cisco Cross-Sell Whitespace into Action

Finding whitespace is the first step. The real value comes from knowing which opportunities are worth pursuing and why.

Netformx AssetXpert™ helps Cisco partners turn Cross-Sell data into actionable account intelligence by combining what has been sold with installed-base, lifecycle, security, modernization, and Cisco 360 incentive insights. Identify where to focus, validate the customer need, and understand the economics before pursuing the opportunity.
