Best Practices for Conducting a Network Scan

We will continue to post recommendations for having a successful scan:

  • Complete the Pre-Scan Questionnaire
  • Make sure SNMP is enabled on the devices to be scanned
  • Make sure there is no firewall blocking access to the devices being scanned (if there is a problem, try to scan from a device in the same subnet)
  • Make sure the device that runs discovery is not blocking SNMP traffic (we have seen that on Windows on Nutanix )
  • Download and run the free Collection Engine and do a simple discovery. Based on the output the partner can see what isn’t working
